Lielie Kapi Riga (great cemetery Riga) is a 22 hectare graveyard wich dates from 1773. Built after the great plague epidemic of 1770 to 1772.
During the second Soviet occupation (1945-1985), many mausoleums and graves were removed or destroyed.
Now it is a public park where grandparents with their grandchildren walk among the ruins of the mausoleums and where homeless people and junks sleep in the crypts under the mausoleums.
